Google has recently updated Search Console Insights to focus exclusively on data from Google Search Console, discontinuing the integration with Google Analytics. This change aims to streamline the tool’s functionality, making it easier for users to access and interpret search performance metrics.
Introduced in June 2020 as a beta feature, Search Console Insights combined data from both Google Search Console and Google Analytics. This integration provided content creators and publishers with a comprehensive view of how audiences discover and engage with their content. By merging search performance data with user behavior insights, the tool offered valuable information to inform content strategy and optimization efforts.
As of December 2024, Google announced that Search Console Insights will no longer include metrics from Google Analytics. The company stated, “We are rolling out an update of Search Console Insights to all properties. With this change, we’re focusing on data from Search Console, no longer including metrics from Google Analytics.”
This update means that while Search Console Insights will continue to provide data on search performance, it will no longer offer insights into user behavior on your site as previously available through Google Analytics.
The removal of Google Analytics data from Search Console Insights simplifies the tool’s focus on search-related metrics. However, this change may limit the ability to analyze user interactions and behavior patterns on your website within the Insights tool. Users who previously relied on the combined data for a holistic view of their site’s performance may need to use Google Analytics separately to obtain comprehensive user behavior insights.
Despite the change, Search Console Insights remains accessible through several methods:
While the removal of Google Analytics data from Search Console Insights may initially seem limiting, it reflects Google’s effort to streamline the tool’s focus on search performance metrics. Users seeking detailed insights into user behavior will need to utilize Google Analytics alongside Search Console Insights to gain a comprehensive understanding of their website’s performance.
