Google has announced the release of v23.2 of its Marketing API, accompanied by client library updates and expanded functionality for advertisers. This release focuses on increasing transparency regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence in video advertising and providing more granular reporting for mobile app campaigns.

Upgrading to version v23.2 requires a mandatory update of client code and libraries to ensure the continued stability of existing integrations.

New Resources for Video and Mobile App Analysis

The primary focus of this update is the automation and performance evaluation of creative assets.

VideoEnhancement Resource

The introduction of the VideoEnhancement resource allows advertisers to retrieve detailed information regarding video ad enhancements. Specifically, the API now provides data on whether a video was Google-generated (AI-generated) or provided directly by the advertiser. This is a critical feature for maintaining brand authenticity as generative AI becomes more prevalent.1.2. AppTopCombinationView Introduction

For App campaigns, the AppTopCombinationView (read-only) resource has been added. It provides insights into the most effective asset combinations (text, images, video). This gives marketers a clear understanding of which specific creative pairings are driving the highest conversion rates.

Feed Management and New Profitability Metrics

Version v23.2 expands configuration options for Demand Gen campaigns and improves conversion tracking systems.

  • Demand Gen Optimization: A new field, HotelSettingInfo.disable_hotel_setting, has been added, allowing developers to programmatically disable hotel feeds within Demand Gen campaigns. This provides greater flexibility when tailoring targeting to specific audiences.
  • New Financial Metric: The biddable_indirect_install_first_in_app_conversion_micros metric has been introduced at the campaign, customer, and ad group levels. This metric allows for a more accurate valuation of revenue derived from indirect installs and first-time in-app conversions.

Enhancements to Planning and Insights Services

The update also includes improvements to key services responsible for forecasting and content analysis:

  • ContentCreatorInsightsService: Expanded capabilities for retrieving analytical data on content creators, helping brands better select partners for collaborations.
  • ReachPlanService: Updated reach planning algorithms, enabling the construction of more accurate media plans for cross-platform placements.

Technical Upgrade Protocol

To ensure a smooth transition to version v23.2, the Google Ads team recommends the following:

  1. Update Client Libraries to the latest version immediately.
  2. Conduct a Code Audit for compatibility with new methods (using the official Diff between v22 and v23).
  3. Review Upgrade Guides available in the developer documentation.
