Pinterest is unveiling an “Ad Labs” innovation program to test prototypes such as:

  • Personalized background generation using visual search AI to create aesthetically tailored lifestyle backgrounds for Product Pins.
  • Interactive, shoppable collage ads that enable users to curate brand imagery, with early tests showing strong engagement.

Additionally, Pinterest is expanding brand safety validation through partnerships with measurement firms IAS and DoubleVerify.

These AI-driven updates demonstrate Pinterest’s dedication to advancing their ad platform with state-of-the-art technology, aiming to boost performance, enable effective personalization, increase efficiency, enhance brand safety, and provide unique experiences for advertisers seeking to reach their audience more effectively.

Pinterest Performance+, currently in closed beta, utilizes automation and AI to optimize campaigns for better cost efficiency.

  • Early tests showed more than 10% improvements in cost per acquisition for conversion campaigns.
  • It also reduced campaign setup time by 50% due to automated inputs.

Brand safety matters

The collage ads are initially limited to select brands like Nike, Wayfair, and NYX Cosmetics, with more advertisers expected to join in the future.
